T5W: Dream Adaptations

August 19, 2020 prompt: Dream Adaptations
Books you would like to see adapted on screen. Would you prefer tv or film? Live action or animated? What moments would you most want to see? Ideal castings?

Posted via the Top 5 Wednesday discussion group on Goodreads. Come join for weekly prompts and lots of bookish conversation! Thanks, Gabrielle for this new month’s worth of prompts!

Alright, book-nerds, let’s not pretend we couldn’t allllll spiral out of control on this topic. Therefore, I’m going to try and keep things as simple as possible here by (a) naming the book choice and (b) naming a casting choice and (c) choosing them all to be TV series, not movies.

No spiraling. *Eye twitches.* Here goes.

1. Stalking Jack the Ripper Series – Kerri Maniscalco
Casting choice: Lily Collins as Audrey Rose Wadsworth

2. The Parasol Protectorate Series – Gail Carriger (Alexia Tarabotti novels)
Casting choice: Lea Michele as Alexia (I mean, come on! The beautiful skin tone, the figure, the (nose)-EVERYTHING fits perfect here.)

3. The Veronica Speedwell Mystery Series – Deanna Raybourn
Casting Choice: Tom Hardy as Revelstoke “Stoker”

4. The Winternight Trilogy – Katherine Arden
Casting Choice: Cillian Murphy as Morozko (It’s all in the eyes.)

5. The Graveyard Queen Series – Amanda Stevens
Casting Choice: Jessica Chastain as Amelia Gray, the graveyard restorer. (I don’t think Amelia is ever described as a redhead – for me this is all about Chastain’s smokey voice and how she walks/holds herself.)

All in all, I didn’t have much ethnic variety. Maybe it’s just because these (5) really, REALLY stuck out in my brain? And it had more to do with certain elements each actor/actress possesses that clicked with the groundwork of the characters.

Happy Wednesday!
